FB

Sadly, tis true. The world of facebook (fb- as I hate to call it) is revolutionizing our imaginations. I could decide that one day I would like to have strong feelings towards animal cruelty, and the next that I am newly engaged for the 4th time this year. We all say that facebook is great to "connect with old friends," or to "keep in touch..." Don't worry, I try to believe those reasons are why I still have a facebook too. In reality, "connecting with old friends" means digging for gossip about who's engaged, who's pregnant, if their kids look like aliens, etc. To "keeping in touch" means looking through other people's pictures until you suddenly come to the realization that you have been staring at your computer for 4 hours and are now looking at a friend of a friend of their boyfriend's friend's christmas vacation pictures. Besides being super creepy, I've found looking at random people's pictures to be a bad in social situations. Hanging out with some friends I recognized one person, but couldn't place where we had met before. He had NO IDEA who I was, but I was sure we had previously met. It was only until about 20 minutes later that I realized I recognized him from pictures he had on facebook with my friends. The lightbulb clicked which brought the follow up question from him. So how do we know each other? Did you figure it out? Denial. You know I still can't remember, weird. Umm... well... cya! Not the most normal conversation starter: Oh we know each other because I stalk you on facebook. Yeah that's a croud pleaser.
I will be the first to admit that the world is being controlled by facebook, especially when it is being used as evidence in our law firm; but I still have my facebook account. Facebook and I are in a love-hate relationship you could say. Oh great idea! Relationship status, updated.

Motherly Instincts

Will someone please tell me what good thing can come out of this? Yes that is a mother with her kids in a stroller, and yes she is attempting to cross Highway 89 with cars traveling at least 55 mph past her..... WHY?!?!?!
As I shake my head in disbelief, I can at least say I've learned a valuable life lesson.
Don't be stupid.
Oh, and always remember to look both ways.

Almost as Embarrassing

Everyone has had one of those "I went to school naked/in my strawberry shortcake undies" dreams or rather nightmares. We all dread the day when one of these nightmares will come true. I was on a 20 year streak of awesomeness in this department until yesterday.... Let me set up the scene for you:
~Weather: Hot, extremely hot, almost sauna like
~Location: Basement, privacy, generally undisturbed
~Variables: Blow dryer and curling iron adding to the initial statement
~Mental State: Scattered, Feeling the stresses of being late
While getting ready for church I put on my dress, starting putting my make-up on and realized that if I wanted to continue to wear this dress I better either wave my arms up and down like a chicken, or change into something a bit less binding around that area. For future reference, the dress I had chosen to wear required a two step process to zip up. Step #1 I could zip it up halfway and then would finish it off with Step #2 by reaching above my head and pulling the zipper up the rest of the way. Simple enough. So to cool off and save my dress from further liquidation I decided to unzip my dress, fold it over at my waist and continue getting ready in my cami. I finished getting ready, and prepared myself for the intense heat. Slipping on some high heels I checked in the mirror one last time to make sure everything was in place. Running out the door, I barely made it to church before the meeting started. I sat by myself and saved a seat for Anisa to come later. Shortly thereafter, Anisa slides in next to me and immediatley leans over to wisper, "Crystal stopped me on the way in and told me to tell you that your dress isn't zipped up all the way." I looked at her, feeling the embarrasment rapidly appearing on my face and asked if she'd zip the rest up. Step #2: Fail. I hoped and prayed that no one noticed, but then realized a few things. I walked in late meaning that everyone was ready to go, eyes ahead and would have noticed someone walking in front of them. I always watch people file in late and try to find a seat, so I'm sure there are at least a few other people out there who share that same joy. Also, Crystal and I talk on occasion, but definitely not all the time. If she noticed and thought it was bad enough to urgently catch Anisa to tell me, then it was bad... Thank heavens she is such a nice great, wonderful, thoughtful person. The whole meeting I couldn't help but feel embarrased. It isn't even that big of a deal, but I couldn't help it. Who knows what people saw, or if anyone even noticed, but I can now say that I'm getting closer to the granny panties nightmare coming to reality. Please tell me that this is as close as I will ever get...

Hopping.... No, More Like Bounding.

Yes, it is true. Though this is all the rage, and you will think that I only join to warm my hands in the warm fire of company, but I really am loving what I just saw last night. The movie Inception is probably one of the best movies that has come out in a long while.
Well one that makes me use the ol' thinker.
Princess and the Frog is freaking awesome,
but I guess it doesn't necessarily fall
under this same category.
more like the
pure bliss with NO brain cells necessary
category.
Anyways I highly recommend everyone to see this movie! Personally, I'd avoid seeing it too late in the evening because it is highly stimulating and jam packed with anxiety. Also, my dreams were really weird after I saw it. Probably could have done without that. So go, run to the movie theater! When you come out, maybe you can bound onto the bandwagon of Inception lovers with me :)
[Is it just me, or does the word "Inception" sound a bit.... uh.... interesting?]

Drive In, Tune In And Enjoy The Show!

Except for a small select few, they have been removed from the earth. As privileged individuals, Utah has a few to dot its surface and keep the magnificence alive. You may think to yourself, is she talking about In-N-Out? Win-Co Grocery Store? [Nope] Even though each of those are apart my favorite things list, I will save those for a seperate post. Today, I bring to you.....

--DRIVE IN--
MOVIE THEATERS!

Taylorsville City, on Redwood Road holds a facility so exciting I nearly need to use the restroom just thinking about it. This past Friday, a bunch of us drove up to this blessed city to participate in such greatness. There were 6 movies playing that night, 3 screens available. We chose Despicable Me AND A-Team. It was a double feature!! Can this place get any better? We found our parking spot, loaded in the back of the trucks, tuned into the right radio station and got ready for the greatest experience of my short, and uneventful until this moment, life. I kind of missed the first part of the movie though because Cameron Nielson and I went to go get some liquid. People were everywhere! I don't know how anyone can say that a drive in would fail in this economy. For the amount of people there, I might want to be so bold as to say that each family there probably had to have a raffle to choose which family member could go and who they had to leave behind. All those people they had to leave behind could have probably filled 4 more Drive In movie theaters! The movie was fantastic! One thing however, made the trip a bit less comfortable than it could have been if I were to be prepared. Pants, socks and shoes were not the best choice in 95 degree weather at 10:00 at night. Silly me for thinking that it would cool down in the middle of the summer! It was so hot that I had to keep moving around or else I'm sure I would have either melted like the wicked witch of the west, or caused water damage to the bed of the Swanson's truck. Despite the heat, we made it through, and had a grand ol' time!
Another great part of the night happened halfway through the movie! My cousin Sydney Conant has been in Utah (from California) for a few weeks, and stopped by to see me!! I love that girl, and wish she could be here always. Or rather that we could pack up everything here and bring it to California for the beach and beautiful sunshine. Although, I guess what makes California so great for me is that it is a vacation. Something that I don't get all the time, so I'll appreciate it.... right? Anyways, it was so good to see Syd, and have her hang out with us Friday and Saturday. (Saturday... shopping, pool party with singles ward, and outdoor movie!) I can't wait until August 17th when I'm leaving on a jet plane to spend a week with her family!

Ready To Run!

Today, is the day! I have been granted permission to stretch these legs out and RUN! Seeing that my motivation continues, I am getting closer and closer to being back in shape! I am 11 weeks out, and can already start running!!!! Now, I do have some restrictions which are to be expected. I am to try to understand what a pony ride feels like....for the pony. I am bound to that same circular motion, but preferrably on a track rather than a smelly stall thing. The "usuals" (morning SHS track walkers with their 5lb weights) will just have to move over as I come flying around those corners! Sadly I will have to leave my walker friends behind, but I'm ready to break free! As much as I loved being able to ride a bike, the seats are far too small for the junk in my trunk. Now I will just be able to walk funny out of soreness rather than uncomfort! Huzzah! I have a run planned for after work today, so we'll see how that goes. It will be interesting to take that first step, but so liberating! If anyone feels that they want to "feel the burn," let me know and we can make a trip to the track!

Imagine what it will be like when I can do bleachers.....

I'm so glad, grateful, happy, excited, for you two to FINALLY be married! :) You both are amazing, and such good friends! Kar, thanks for being the first to get married so that now we all know what to do. Isn't she so nice?! Jake, be good to her and always do cute husband things. I don't know what they are yet, but I'm sure you'll know what to do. I love you both, and I am so happy that you each have found your other half. Thanks for getting married in the temple, and setting a great example for all of us singles mingling out there. One day I'll be just like you two and then we can go on married people dates. I can't wait.

So here is to you, Mr. & Mrs. Mitchell:

Hooray for eternal happiness!

Freedom!!!! Celebrations of the July 4th Weekend.

I love Utah. I have nothing else to compare it to, but in my opinion no one parties in July like Utah. This month is consumed by TWO holidays! Not only do I love that I get two days off of work this month, but even more great is that everyone unites to celebrate and party! Provo has the hot air balloons in the morning, 4th of July parade, and the Freedom Festival. All three of these events are on my "a few of my favorite things" Sound of Music list. Freedom Festival shuts down a part of Center Street with a million booths and tents, overflowing with pretty jewelry, bags, clothing, FOOD, games, and much much more! I was able to go with my Mom and Dad this year and we found some great things! People are so crafty and I love that they want to share their art with me for a small fortune. Aaahh people are great.

Sunday I forced my Mom, Dad, and Jordan to Provo to walk down University Avenue with me in hopes of finding a place to live. We had forgotten that the parade was the next morning, but quickly remembered when we saw the vast amounts of people lining every inch of the sidewalk up and down University Avenue. This is why I love Utah. Everyone gathers together to hang out, have a good time, and get the worst sleep of their life (if they are lucky). It was fun to walk through all the people saving spots for the next morning and occupying themselves by playing wii, watching movies, playing cards, and just having a blast! Part of me was envious that I had not done the same. So, it is on my bucket list. :) While walking and taking numbers of potential pads, we saw this.

[So great.]

On Monday, Steven, Judy, Steven Jr. and Sophie came over for our annual BBQ to celebrate this glorious holiday!

I'll have to post more pictures of this cute girl when I get them. She has definitely accepted her role as a lady with complete confidence. Anywhere I had the camera out, she was right there to strike a pose! Her parents are in for a road of deep pockets and extra storage space for all her dress up clothes. :) atta girl.

Well I ended up finding a few good options for places to call my humble abode! On Tuesday I had an appointment to see a condo at University Avenue Condos. Unique name right? I ended up getting up to Provo quite a bit earlier than expected, so I had some time to kill before my appointment. Meet "ginormo."

This is a Lunchable jacked up on steroids. Thanks to my new best friend 711, I had the opportunity to experience this delectable treat/meal. TWO kinds of meat and cheeses? Silky smooth chocolate for a little something on the side? I'd like to raise my fist in appreciation for Oscar Meyer for their capability to manufacture such greatness. Well, I landed the condo in style and even became friends with one of my future roommates. I believe it was all thanks to Ginormo.

Can't wait until the 24th! Where the real party starts.....

Chubby Is Best.

Westin Francis
[This little guy is so stinkin' cute!]

Nicolette and Skyler Francis (my cousins) came to visit us on Sunday! It was really good to see them, and especially good to see their little chub Westin! He was so relaxed and let me snuggle with him the whole time! This kid is a chunk, with rolls galore!! Aaahh chubby babies are my favorite.... :)

These last two are done by his beautiful mother. She's an amazing photographer! Told ya this kid is cute. :)
