A Quote a Day.... Keeps the Snow Away... (Hopefully)

I love the sun.  I've recently discovered that I'm one of those people who is significantly happier when the sun is shining.  When it snowed on my way to work yesterday I didn't even mind because an hour later it was bright and sunny again!  (oh Utah....)

Well here are a few quotes that have saved me throughout this crazy work week.  All via Pinterest.

AND then some of these....
So we started our SF outdoor soccer Women's league a few weeks ago and it has felt so good to be playing outside!  Actually, physically it felt terrible because I am SO out of shape (see quote above re: turtles and peanut butter), but it was good to get out and play.  I mean I even got sun burnt last week! HALLELUJAH!   Ah man I love me some summer.  P.S. Danica, our team name "Keepin' it REAL" will always make me think of you.  We thought of you when Kay and I picked it!

Okay, I'm obsessed.  I LOVE Yogurtland.  Plus it's yogurt so it's so much healthier than ice cream! Yes, I happily live in a state of denial, why do you ask? See those strawberries and kiwis?  #Instahealthpoints. Never mind the fact that the cheesecake bites are overpowering the strawberries.... ;)

Quote Book

I LOVE QUOTES!  I wish my walls could be covered in them.  Inspiration from another's thoughts and perspective happens every day, and I love that Pinterest helps me to discover some one else's inspiration and make it my own as well.    Did that make sense?  If not, oh well. :] It's FRIDAY!

Here are some of my recent favorite quotes...... Enjoy!

hahaha this fits in perfectly with my dumb humor

Little Miss Crafty Pants

Well I do have to say, the sewing machine and I are becoming really great friends.  Lately I've made a bunch of things and they were so easy!! I'm posting them so I can save them and they'll eventually go into my blog book I'm making :)
Rice hand warmers for co-worker gifts
(Put in the microwave for 30 seconds then stuff them in your coat pockets. They're awesome!)

Kaylyn's make-up brush holder
Pattern adapted from HERE

Zen garden I made for Dad's Christmas present for his office
(obviously didn't come from the sewing machine, but it was still crafty so that counts right?!)

My next project is to make a quilt!! I'm thinking this pattern, and using this fabric somewhere.... :)  I'm so excited!

January 5, 2013

Oh hey there 2013!

I am loving all the New Years resolution blog posts.  Can I hop on the bandwagon??  I love that everyone is feeling motivated, reflective and excited about all the possibilities this year could have for each of us.  For me, this year is going to be the bomb.com.  I can just feel it.  Also maybe because I can't stop finding reasons to use 'the bomb.com' to describe things in my life.... can't be a bad sign.

I too made some New Years resolutions that I'm particularly stoked about:

  1. Learn Spanish....again.
  2. Complete my Vans collection (only 3 more to go!)
  3. Read 12 books
  4. Go on a road trip
  5. Buy my own place
I have a few others, but those will be kept to my journal only. :)  For the past few years I've tried to have a theme for the year.  One year it was "Weightless."  Originally it stemmed from the All Time Low song entitled, Weightless, and it seemed so fitting.

"Maybe it's not my weekend, but it's gonna be my year.
I'm so sick of watching all the minutes pass as I go nowhere."
I even typed out my resolutions along with what I felt my definition of Weightless meant to me.
P.S. If you haven't heard of All Time Low.....
palm smacking forehead
Try them out! They are one of the best live performers I've seen.
Plus it's a great song to run too.

This year I've been struggling with what my theme should be... Quotes, Songs, a single Word, anything can qualify. Maybe I'll just go back to my roots and have DOMINATION be my theme for this year.  (Not Dominatrix.... don't worry Mom)  Who knows, but I'll figure it out. I'll probably be blowing up Pinterest searching for some adorable and inspiring quotes.

Well, here's to a fantastic new year that I'm soo excited for!

What's Cookin' Wednesday - Crunchwrap Supreme

Last night I made a homemade version of the Taco Bell Crunchwrap Supreme!!  I got the recipe here, and figured it was within my skill level.  HUGE SUCCESS!  I highly recommend this recipe!  It's fun to make, and they tasted so good!

Hers.
Mine.

I didn't have time to take a picture of the inside because
I ate it too fast.... :)

*Only suggestion: make sure to cook the corn tortillas as long as you need to to make sure it's really crunchy. Mine took longer than 3 minutes...

October To Do List

I think I'm going to start doing To-Do lists for projects I want to do during each month.  They might actually get done if I set a time frame, eh?   I can only hope....

OCTOBER TO DO LIST:

Paint bookshoeshelf

Sew this Messenger bag

De-Junk bathroom and kitchen storage boxes

Sew this iPhone case

Start going to the cycling class with my mom

Watch this.

Finish this.
I'm off to a good start if you ask me!  I found the bookcase at a yard sale for $15! Booyah! (So much better than the cheapest one I could find....$75)  I have been trying to figure out how to keep my shoes organized and I think this will work!  This way I can look at all my beautiful vans, and none of my shoes will get squished.  I bought the fabric and have it all cut out for the messenger bag and I'll use scraps I have to make the iPhone case.  I have a few more hopeful items I could add to this list, but I'll start here first.  Don't want to get too ambitious. :)

P.S. click on the de-junk link, you'll find an awesome list of questions to ask yourselve while de-junking!

Catch Up

Well I think I'm sick of looking at the screen shot of that video I posted last week when I get on my blog to check what's up in my fellow blogger's lives.   So, I'm posting again.

Catch Up:
  • Labor Day weekend was AWESOME!  Todd invited me to join his whole family up the canyon at their property for their annual labor day celebration.   This is my second year going, and yet again it was a blast! Todd certainly has an amazing family.
  • A family fantasy football draft took place on Monday which marked a new tradition.  Everyone was expected to arrive in business casual attire - and did they ever!  Suit jackets, slacks, clipboards, brief cases, shirts tucked in, laptops, the whole nine yards.  haha it was a lot of fun to watch.
  • I have decided to start cooking once a week while at home.  Trying to help my mom out, and also build my cooking skills at the same time! This week I made Ranch Chicken.  My new favorite recipe.  It's soooo good! Want it?  here you go!
4 chicken breasts or 8 chicken halves
3/4 cup cornflakes (crushed)
3/4 cup Parmesan cheese
1 packet or 3 Tbsp Ranch Dressing Mix
Melted Butter

Combine cornflakes, Parmesan cheese and ranch mix.
Dip chicken in melted butter then roll in cornflake mix. Cover generously.
Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes in a 9x13 pan.
  • I read a book last night that made me seriously consider sleeping with my parents for the night.  Instead, I pulled on my big girl pants and slept on the couch upstairs with all the lights on and GSN's Lingo in the background. No way I was going downstairs to sleep!  Thank you Mary Higgins Clark.
  • Parker is sick.  Poor guy is begging to go back to school because he's so bored.  Hopefully he gets better soon, and hopefully this scratchy throat of mine is not an indication I've been accidentally drinking from his drink...
  • Last night I had a delightful talk with Anisa which was quite a nice break from my white knuckles gripping my book. I send my good vibes her way as she's getting ready to take a test! Go Anisa Go!
  • And last but not least, I want it to be the weekend already.  That is all. :)

Craft Corner

Even I didn't think it would turn out as well as it has.  Thanks to Pinterest, I've got quite a few craft projects to try in the next little while, but decided to start with this one.

I LOVED every second of making this wallet.  Plus I bought sooo much extra fabric so now I can make more wallets and mix up the fabric for different parts.  It was really pretty easy, and got me excited about sewing!

I did have mom  help with the final stitch on the outside to make sure it was straight.  She is a professional ya know, can't waste that resource!

This project is what started it all.

Then came this one.  So simple, but soooo genius!  Hole punch your cards, put them on a key ring and throw them in your purse!  You'll never loose them, and they don't have to clog up your wallet.

I want to try these ones next......

It's going to be a fun summer :)
