Great, Grand Gratitude

Do you ever have those days when you just feel grateful for EVERYTHING?!  Honestly I have been feeling so grateful yesterday and today, and so I'm going to share a few things with you.  Someone should make a holiday where we talk about all the things we're thankful for..... hmm.... oh yeah there is one, and I was too busy eating pretzel jello salad and mashed potatoes to think of these things.

I'm grateful for:
  1. Spending time with family I don't get to see every day (not that I don't love my mom, pops and pk.... shoot that sounded bad)
  2. Work
  3. Working with people that are fantastically intelligent and fantastically wonderful
  4. Loving my job, and being truly invested in our cases
  5. People who listen
  6. People who don't listen - to remind me that I need to make sure I'm a person who listens
  7. Music
  8. Good movies that make me laugh (PITCH PERFECT - go see it. right now.)
  9. Good health, and the ability to exercise
  10. Patience
  11. Inspirational Quotes
  12. T-O-Double
  13. Craft Projects
  14. Heating blankets and car heaters.
I'm thinking about trying to make this a weekly thing - listing the specific things I'm grateful for, for that day/week.  Maybe I'll do it on Thursdays and call it: Thanks Thursday.  Eh? Or Thanktitude Thursday?  Gobs of Gratitude?  We'll see.

Come on Down!!

This last weekend Todd and I had the awesome opportunity to go see the very first showing in Utah of.....

Unfortunately neither one of us were called down for a chance to win amazing prizes, but we still had SO much fun!  Todd Newton (a recent award winner for best game show host, and host of Whammy) and the guy from the old game show Supermarket Sweep (one of my absolute favorites) did such a good job hosting the show. They were hilarious!  Todd and I had so much fun screaming "HIGHER" or "2! 2! 2!" and by the end my face hurt from all the smiling and laughing.  We decided the next time we're in California we are going to hit up the legit Price is Right.   This one was a traveling show that was still really awesome, but definitely not as grand as the real one.

Todd also was able to try this fav of mine for the first time before the show!

And.... some pictures :)

Too much pizza......

This lady was TERRIBLE! One the first guess
the hiker got all the way to 25 (the top).

A man from the military got 1.00 exactly!! It was awesome!

Bucket List #16: Check!

Catch Up

Well I think I'm sick of looking at the screen shot of that video I posted last week when I get on my blog to check what's up in my fellow blogger's lives.   So, I'm posting again.

Catch Up:
  • Labor Day weekend was AWESOME!  Todd invited me to join his whole family up the canyon at their property for their annual labor day celebration.   This is my second year going, and yet again it was a blast! Todd certainly has an amazing family.
  • A family fantasy football draft took place on Monday which marked a new tradition.  Everyone was expected to arrive in business casual attire - and did they ever!  Suit jackets, slacks, clipboards, brief cases, shirts tucked in, laptops, the whole nine yards.  haha it was a lot of fun to watch.
  • I have decided to start cooking once a week while at home.  Trying to help my mom out, and also build my cooking skills at the same time! This week I made Ranch Chicken.  My new favorite recipe.  It's soooo good! Want it?  here you go!
4 chicken breasts or 8 chicken halves
3/4 cup cornflakes (crushed)
3/4 cup Parmesan cheese
1 packet or 3 Tbsp Ranch Dressing Mix
Melted Butter

Combine cornflakes, Parmesan cheese and ranch mix.
Dip chicken in melted butter then roll in cornflake mix. Cover generously.
Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes in a 9x13 pan.
  • I read a book last night that made me seriously consider sleeping with my parents for the night.  Instead, I pulled on my big girl pants and slept on the couch upstairs with all the lights on and GSN's Lingo in the background. No way I was going downstairs to sleep!  Thank you Mary Higgins Clark.
  • Parker is sick.  Poor guy is begging to go back to school because he's so bored.  Hopefully he gets better soon, and hopefully this scratchy throat of mine is not an indication I've been accidentally drinking from his drink...
  • Last night I had a delightful talk with Anisa which was quite a nice break from my white knuckles gripping my book. I send my good vibes her way as she's getting ready to take a test! Go Anisa Go!
  • And last but not least, I want it to be the weekend already.  That is all. :)

Missing Bob Barker

Today after work I am going to pick up my two tickets to........

THE PRICE IS RIGHT!

That's right, that awesome TV show where people win, A NEW CAR and other fancy things - is coming live to Kingsbury Hall in September! So look for Todd and I on TV because we'll probably get picked, and have awesome t-shirts, and maybe not Todd, but I'll probably make a fool out of myself.   Wouldn't want to miss that!

Well, realistically, the likely hood of me getting picked to play any of the games for the price is right is very low.... but it's still a possibility! I'm going to quickly add this to my bucket list and then cross it off come September 14th!

Now, I've got to cram in as many The Price is Right TV show episodes as I can so I can be prepared. I've got a lot of work to do.... :)

Disneyland!!

Alright I finally uploaded all my pictures from our California trip, so now I can dump them into here! For my personal journaling purposes I'll give a short summary, a million pictures, then some good memories at the end.  :)

Day 1- Headed to St. George with Todd that evening and saw a killer sunset.  I love car rides with him because we listen to music and talk about the strangest topics.  Once we got to the condo we watched some Olympics then decided to give Todd a haircut.

Day 2- Chillin' like a villain in St. Geezy with all Todd's little nieces and nephews.  We went to the pool, went shopping (bought my very first softball mitt -if that's not fully invested I don't know what is), and discovered my new favorite store bought ice cream (Blue Bunny Chocolate Peanut butter Cone - or something.... DOMINATION).  The condo was absolutely gorgeous. I would live there full time in a heart beat.

Day 3- Woke up early, dealt with grumpy workers at McDonalds and started our drive to sunny California!  What else did we do... oh yeah, drove. and drove some more. oh and a little bit more.  Todd and I watched the Office, parts of Despicable Me, and Bourne Identity.  Matt showed off his incredible singing talent and Camie kept us all sane with her huge bag of Gummy Bears.  Eventually we did make it to Newport Beach, and oh man..... I can't tell you how much I love the beach!  Newport was a new experience for me and I certainly wasn't disappointed.  The water was a little chilly at first, but after I was engulfed by a few waves it turned out to be quite nice!  I learned a valuable trick while there though.  ALWAYS have gum in your mouth when playing in the water.  Why? I'm confident that I consumed at least my months worth of salt intake during the 4 hours we were there, and the only thing stopping me from throwing up every 5 minutes was that I found a piece of gum.  After the beach we took a walk on the pier, saw some massive pelicans, Todd and I escaped away to eat at the Spaghetti Factory and then we all headed back to our hotel.

Day 4- Hello California Adventure!  They have really made some awesome additions since I was last in Disneyland, including CARS LAND!  Man oh man I think I was just as excited as the little kids were to see Mater, Lightening, Flo's, the Cozy Cone and to take a ride through Radiator Springs.  That place was magical.  It was life size and perfect, and I couldn't get enough. We stayed for the parade and the World of Color which was awesome too!!  I had no idea what to expect, but that World of Color was absolutely fantastic! Favorite rides in California Adventure: California Screamin', Tower of Terror, Toy Story Mania, Grizzly River Run, It's Tough to be a Bug and Radiator Springs Racers.

Day 5- Hello Disneyland!  This whole experience brought back a lot of memories from when I came with my family forever ago, but Disneyland really made me excited.  Which is hard to imagine more excitement was to come after I had jumped up and down with my hands waiving everywhere screaming with joy the day before. The kids were in heaven with Peter Pan, It's a Small World and some of the other kid rides. You know, I can see how Todd and I could have a blast just coming to Disneyland by ourselves, but it would never compare to how much fun it was to see all the kids get so excited and to share that happiness with them. Never.  Disneyland truly is the happiest place on earth.  Favorite Rides in Disneyland: Space Mountain (duh), Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Indiana Jones, Mad Tea Party, Pirates of the Caribbean and Splash Mountain.

Day 6- Because each family had kids of different age levels, who all wanted to go on different rides, we all split up and did our own thing in either California Adventure or Disneyland. It was fun to be with Todd and to ride what we wanted to ride, and we did just that.  Over the three days, I think we rode a few of our favorites at least 6 times.  Want to know our secret?  Fast Passes.  Oh wait it's not a secret.  For some reason 90% of the population at Disneyland did not catch on to how amazing Fast Passes are.  We would walk right through to the front of the line of every ride and listen to people moan and groan about waiting in a 120 minute line.  Honestly I don't quite understand why, but I don't want to complain too much because due to people's ignorance, we were able to jump right on to every ride!

Day 7- Packed up and drove back to St. George.  Stopped at the Nike Outlet, of course. :) Spent some time in the pool and played some catch with my new mitt!  Then slept with gum in my mouth and woke up with gum stuck to my pants.  Woke up the next morning and headed home!

Now for the PICTURES!

Mashter Yoda hahaha

I'm not sure why I have a mustache...?
Extra Fast Passes we didn't have time to use!

Memories:
  • Chocolate Cherry Coke (Best. Drink. EVER.)
  • Fried Pickles
  • Baked Potato soup (Best. Soup. EVER.)
  • Flo's turkey and mashed potatoes - chocolate shake with "gravel chunks" on top
  • Sun dried Tomato and Chicken pasta
  • Ghirardelli's hot fudge peanut butter sundae
  • Dole Pineapple whips
  • Meeting interesting people while in line for Cars fast passes at 7am
  • Sore feet
  • Whirlpool at hotel
  • Meeting fellow Giants fans in the hot tub
  • Perfect weather
  • Having so much fun I could hardly contain my excitement
*Notice how the first 7 favorite memories were about food.... Todd and I definitely know what we are doing when it comes to food.  Everyone else had a hard time finding good places to eat, but not us!  Of course, it's a little easier when we aren't trying to figure out what to feed little kids. haha So, if you ever go to Disneyland and need suggestions on where to eat..... Carnation Cafe and Flo's Cafe.... you won't be sorry :)

T-O Double

Todd had a birthday shout hurray!  We wanted to sing to him yesterday!  One year older and wiser to, happy birthday, to Todd! Man I'm so good at birthday rhymes..... ;)  I would have a video of Todd blowing out the candles right below this paragraph for you to view, but due to my ridiculously bad luck, I'm trying to figure out a way to see if I really did just delete ALL of my pictures from my camera.....  I'm really hoping they are still out there somewhere because I have most of the Ragnar pictures on there too... oh geez it makes my stomach turn just thinking about the possibility of those pictures being gone.

ANYWAYS... on a lighter note!  Todd's birthday was great! Dinner at Tucanos the night before with Kurtlyn (Kurt and Caitlyn), Dirt cake and ice cream with Todd's family then Red Velvet Bundt cake with my family, Zupas tonight, search for the perfect Lid and strawberries & cream!

Aaahhh.  I love summer birthdays.

La Copa Familiar 2012

Todd's family has a few family traditions that took place last week, La Copa Familiar and International Night.  Both were so much fun!! I was happy to be apart of them this year! We got started a little later for La Copa so I didn't get pictures taken until we moved to MMHS.  Here you go!!

 The group!

La Copa 2012 Champions!!

Todd has been growing his hair out for this occasion,
I think it turned out pretty well actually haha

See Todd.... Proof your hairstyle is a soccer hairstyle...

Oh man now that I searched on the web for some European Mohawk pictures I can't stop finding these crazy ones!! hahaha

And finally.... I couldn't do a Mohawk post without this guy....

Next up, was the International night.  Everyone brings some native food from a country or state they have been to (i.e. or went on a mission to) and we have a potluck celebration!  For me it was fantastic because I just got to eat all the creations! Score! There were some crazy things there, like Korean Pancakes (made with octopus and other lovely things), and fried Okra.  We also had a taco station by Little Mark, loaded polish dogs, beans, fruit, steak, salads, juices, etc. Todd made Fresh Pineapple juice and Steak.  Sooo good!  It's a fun tradition they have, and just another excuse for everyone to get together.  Food tends to be at the center of my favorite gatherings, so this one fit right into my top 10.

Also, more exciting news, Kurt and Cailtyn Averett were married on Friday!!!!  They both were beaming with excitement, and it all turned out so great! Congrats guys!!

This weekend we've got the Ragnar Relay, and I couldn't be more excited!  No more training, the race is finally here!  Hopefully I don't kill over and die the first leg.  I'll be sure to take lots of pictures, maybe even some videos.  So until then, stay sweet my friends.

All Four Seasons!

Yesterday Todd and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary of our first date!  Well, it was more of a whole weekend of celebrations.  Friday we went to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner!!!! I had never been there and so we figured this was the perfect chance to try it out.

WOW..... it was absolutely amazing!  Todd met me up here in SLC, picked me up and we only had to wait 10 minutes to be seated.  Thank heavens for being the early birds. Love that worm.  Of course we had to get cheesecake too, so I picked out Red Velvet cheesecake and Todd chose the White Chocolate Raspberry cheesecake.  Again, WOW.  SOOOOO GOOOD.  This might be our new favorite anniversary spot.

Afterwards, we took a drive up the canyon, relaxed and enjoyed each others company.  This girl (thumb directed to my own chest) is a big fan of drives up the canyon.  There is something so peaceful about watching the scenery pass by.  Also, I was once again reminded of the fact that I am like a little child.  That car puts me to sleep faster than anything else, and I was having a hard time stifling the yawns on our way back.

Saturday day was filled with sun, outside chores and the procrastination of inside chores.  That night we got together with KKAH (now KJKJABHT haha) to celebrate Kaylyn's 22nd birthday!!!!!!  We successfully carried out our new tradition of making dinner together and it all turned out so good!  Happy birthday Kay!!  Such an adult.  Such a beauty. :)  After dinner we all headed over to the picture show and saw The Avengers!!  I really really liked that movie.  I highly recommend it to anyone.

Sunday I helped Todd celebrate our anniversary by making him wake up early and come to our ward at 9:00 am! He loved that.  After church we played Ticket to Ride with my family (our new obsession) and just hung out for a bit.  Later we went over to Todd's for their belated Mothers Day get together.  It was a lot of fun to hang out with everyone, have some friendly competition and to celebrate wonderful mothers.  That night we decided to take our trains game to another level.  Two boards, two games, two winners from each game played for the title.  Guess who won........ this girl (thumb directed to my own chest).  nbd. :) actually. vbd.

After that eventful weekend I can't wait for what this week holds!

What's up Weekend?

I love weekends. A break from work and a chance to relax.  Plus, hang out with some besties! Anisa and Bronzson are in town now and I'm so excited for the fun we'll all have together! Maybe if we're really good we can convince them to never leave!  ;)

Here's a photo dump of the recents:
