Randomocity 2.0

I found this little treasure yesterday as I was passing by the copy room downstairs.

We have our championship game for the Spanish Fork Women's league tonight, so hopefully we come away with another "CHAMPION" shirt rather than something like this.... haha although this is pretty funny.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yesterday a bunch of good things happened.  I had the best conversation with Kay on a matter that has deeply troubled me lately.  She certainly hit the point right on!  (I was going to use a hammer and nail reference, but couldn't quite figure out how it was worded.... it's early)  I love that feeling when someone completely gets you and makes a comment that feels like they picked it straight from your brain.  That's why I've got my besties :)

"Matilda: I became...
Hansel: What?
Matilda: Bulimic.
Zoolander: You can read minds?"

Thought process for above movie quote:  Best friends are like mind readers --> instant movie quote recollection, "You can read minds?" --> google search --> insert quote --> Realizing that this quote doesn't fit like I thought it would....  Oh well.  :)

ANYWAYS, incident #2 from yesterday happened when my dad and I were filling up the blue bird with gas.  Since he's fancy and gets his gas for like $1.25 (it used to be 69 cents not too long ago), there are limited places that offer this gas to such special people.   One place is the Flying J.  Filling up next to us was a man from somewhere that gave him an awesome accent.  He made a comment at our price for gas and chuckled.  He continued on to say that he spends about $700.00 every day on gas.  Hmm..... I think I'm feeling a lot better about Veronica's drinking habits.  She and I would have to split if she ran that sort of bill.  Things are always better when they are put in perspective ya know?

Next up, I had a strange thought this morning while we were driving to work.  Here it goes.

Why do we call toasted bread, toast?
"Pause for effect"

If we used the same formula as present above for naming food items then scrambled eggs would be called scramble, creamed corn would be called cream, boiled potatoes would be called boil and the list could go on and on.

My conclusion, we are weird.

Second conclusion, this probably came about because someone was too lazy to say toasted bread, so they shortened it.  This person obviously had to be extremely good looking and had great style, so everyone jumped on the bandwagon.  Now, 20 years later and everyone in the world calls it toast.  Okay maybe that's a bit of a stretch, but who knows where it really came from, and I think my conclusion is quite a possibility.

P.S. Anyone pick up on the 2nd movie quote....? We just watched it on Sunday.... it's possibly one of my favorites. A gold star to whoever can guess the movie!

Mismatched Moments

The moment when you get to work after rushing to get ready that morning and realizing that you certainly do not match.  Face palm.

Dashingly Dirty

Okay this is like 6 months late, but I found these pictures today and figured I had to post them! These are from the Dirty Dash 10k race last year which was hands down the best time I've ever had running! I watched my friends do this race the year before and thought I knew how crazy fun it was going to be just by watching them slip and slide everywhere. Nope, not even close. I didn't even begin to know how great it was until I ran it myself. The obstacle course sent us up, down, in and out of mud puddles, swamps, fire hose blasts, slip n slides and slippery walls and I couldn't have loved every second any more. As an added bonus, you came away from this race with rock hard abs because you were laughing the entire time. It was quite the experience, and I highly recommend it to ANYONE! I'm not going to deceive you and say you could wake up and run it tomorrow. Yes you should train a little so that you don't hate life (unless you are Kaylyn/Karlie and can just do that sort of thing), but honestly I know that anyone could do it. Check it out at www.thedirtydash.com and watch the video that pops up. If nothing else, it will make you smile :)

Champs!

It only took almost 4 years of BYU Intramurals to finally get this shirt.

But hey! No matter what it took, I will forever have a CHAMPION shirt, and I feel quite alright with that :)

Plus, it's good to have a shirt with the word Intramural on it so I know exactly how it is spelled.  I now know it's not supposed to be spelled "Innermural," like we make it sound.  Note to self: Maybe I should make a shirt with all the Utah pronouncings of words.  You know like: Moun-in (the one you climb) , Crans (Crayola) , Ages (that come from Chickens) .... Yup, I think Innermurals will fit in just fine.

Zoey

It's been decided!  Her name is Zoey.  :]  Parker was dead set on naming her Lucy, but he was vetoed.  We went through quite a long list of names though.  It's interesting how you have a hard time naming a dog a name that a person has, or a name that an old pet also had.  Name association is pretty influential.  She has so much energy and was just bouncing around all last night.  We played with her all night and even Max warmed up to her a little bit.  I had almost forgotten how much I love puppies!

Drumroll Please.....

We have a new addition to our family!

Meet........ Lucy, Ruby, Allie, Abby, Ellie, Maggie, or whatever we decide to call her.  We haven't come up with a name yet.  She's so adorable!! She was born January 15, 2012 and my parents brought her home last night.  So far she's been completely fine around Max, and the potty accidents have been kept to a minimum (except for the little present I found this morning in the laundry room).  Any suggestions on a name??

4.4

What's up best day of the year?!  Today, is the infamous 4/4 day - can't you just feel it's magnificence?! I certainly can.  Only once a year does April 4th come around, and it's always a treat.  Last year I didn't do many exciting things on 4/4 day, but this year is going to be different!  So far, my plans are to [1] get all dressed up  to start off the day with good vibes (look good play good), [2] leave work early (maybe at 4:00?), [3]play in a basketball game and then [4] color/decorate Easter eggs with K&J squared!

Blissful Boarding

Longboarding.  Is there not a rose that smells as sweet?  That's not it? hmm... looks like I need to freshen up on my Shakespeare. Either way, the point is that there is not much in life that is sweeter than the bliss Longboarding brings.  Parker and I had a chance to board around the town for a bit on Saturday since it was sooo warm!

Sheesh I love the sun.  We took a few pictures, and sent some to Jordan last week.  He made a comment about how Parker happens to be wearing his shirt, glasses, hat and is using his longboard.  Nice.  :]  I just assured him not to worry because I would be more than happy to help him on a shopping spree when he got back.

Parker and I were hanging out, laying on our longboards when a series of unfortunate events happened.  My longboard rolled backwards just slightly which then caught my hair under the wheel.  I tried to lean forward but it only pushed the board back further on my hair.  With a lot of breaking and ripping sounds I finally got out of the mess.  I reached around and found this not where it's supposed to be.  Not only do I have patchy eye brows, now I have bald spots in my head!  It's hopeless.

Speaking of Jordan, he just got transferred to Kosovo!!!!  He'd been in the same place for 9 months, and now he's moving to another country!  Luckily he doesn't have to speak a new language, but we did find out that there are only 50 members in the entire country!  Jordan's work will definitely be quite the impact a few years down the road.  He's working hard, loving it all, and I'm sooo proud of him!

Irrationally Rational.

Friday we got wind that there would be terrible traffic and major delays from 2 - 8 pm. Side note: this is a terrible block of time to be closing down the freeway because it's Friday, and it's a sunny Friday which means people will be trying to get home early.  So, thinking ahead I decided that maybe we should take a half day Friday to skip out on all the traffic!  Genius right?  My dad and Kar both thought it was a great idea and we all anticipated a nice short day.  I started thinking about it later and realized that I've become a crazy road raged driver.  I instantly jumped at losing 5 hours of work just to avert an extra 30 minutes in traffic.  .....The things you do when you drive an hour each way to work every day.
