I Love Commercials

I seriously cannot get enough of this.  I think about it every time we have tacos, and whenever someone does a "wave-your-hands-in-the-air" dance I think of it. haha so good.

*Why did I think of it right now?  Because I just did the "wave-your-hands-in-the-air" dance. :)

Order Up

And on the Menu tonight.....

Thank you Pinterest.

I'd Like to Retire Now, Thank You.

Yesterday we started the tournament for our coed softball team!  Our first game..... not so great.   Well the ending wasn't.  We played really well throughout the game, just couldn't pull it out in the end.  I happened to catch a pop fly in left center. NBD, just a nice little personal victory for me!  Okay, maybe it wasn't such a personal victory, I did do a little dance and threw my hands in the air in excitement.   Todd just shook his head and laughed.  :)

Second game the score went back and forth and everyone was hitting so well!   7th inning came around, the time was up and we were last at bat.  Score: 10-15 them.  We had a lot of ground to make up, and to be honest.... I was doubtful.  So we cheered everyone on and finally things started dropping for us!  By that, I mean that we couldn't get a strike pitched to save our lives.   Normally we all have a little too much pride to walk, but at a time like this all of us decided if we can walk everyone to get some runs, we'll have a fighting chance.   So it continued.  Jeff was walked (even though you could tell it pained him to do so) with a girl walking behind him, then Matt walked (barely, you could tell he wanted to hit it so badly), then another girl, then Kurt hit a few people in. Now I was up.  Two strikes on the board, so I knew I couldn't get out.  So, I walked up there - super cool strut, and got in my "I'll-pretend-I-know-what-I'm-doing-stance."  Well..... Strike.  Apparently I wasn't ready for that one.  Next pitch.... perfect.   It was one of my best hits, right between 2nd and short stop and just over their heads in the gap!  I hurried my legs to first base and was beaming just to know I didn't let my team down this time, I made it on base!  Little did I know, it was a bit more than just making it on base.  Everyone started walking back to the dug outs and my team was flooding the field.  I couldn't figure out what was going on, and I was quite confused.... Wait! ....but I made it on base! They didn't call me out!   Everyone was giving me high fives and I finally asked, "wait is it over?  Did we win?"  Everyone screamed, "Yeah!! We were tied at 15's and your hit sent Camie home to finish the game!!! You won the game for us!!!!"     Wow.

After the game all the little nieces and nephews were calling me to come out.   Once I did, they told me to lay on the grass.  They are too cute to resist, so I did, and they performed a proper victory doggy pile.   Corbin said, "Hailey! You won the game for us! Now we can come back and watch again, and play with our friends!  Thanks." haha best. fans. ever.  If I'm being honest with myself, it's probably a good thing I didn't read the score board, and didn't realize the pressure I had to get on base.  Thank you blonde hair.  I think I'll keep you. :)

Oh and you know I did a celebration dance all the way back to the dug out.  And maybe one in the parking lot.  Domination.

Come on Down!!

This last weekend Todd and I had the awesome opportunity to go see the very first showing in Utah of.....

Unfortunately neither one of us were called down for a chance to win amazing prizes, but we still had SO much fun!  Todd Newton (a recent award winner for best game show host, and host of Whammy) and the guy from the old game show Supermarket Sweep (one of my absolute favorites) did such a good job hosting the show. They were hilarious!  Todd and I had so much fun screaming "HIGHER" or "2! 2! 2!" and by the end my face hurt from all the smiling and laughing.  We decided the next time we're in California we are going to hit up the legit Price is Right.   This one was a traveling show that was still really awesome, but definitely not as grand as the real one.

Todd also was able to try this fav of mine for the first time before the show!

And.... some pictures :)

Too much pizza......

This lady was TERRIBLE! One the first guess
the hiker got all the way to 25 (the top).

A man from the military got 1.00 exactly!! It was awesome!

Sandwiches

This word always gives me trouble.  Even just typing the title of this post I had to re-type it a few times just to make sure it was spelled right.  I always put the h after the w.... and sometimes after the c as well.  Don't ask me why, but it's just one word that I struggle spelling.

ANYWAYS.

Recently I've re-discovered the beauty of a simple sandwich.  PB&J, PB& Honey, Turkey, Ham, Cheese, Roast Beef, Salami, Chicken Salad, BLT.  There really are a lot of possibilities to satisfy any type of sandwich craving you are having.  Normally we change out the innards to mix things up, but at my house we like to change things up a little differently.  I love me a good Bagel sandwich.  Mmmm just thinking about the toasted bagel with turkey and salami makes my stomach grumble.  Parker however, took this to a new level this past week when he has started to obsess over hamburger sandwiches.  That's right, hamburger buns, mustard, mayo, turkey, ham, etc.   For me, this is taking it a little too far, but he's even got my mom doing it occasionally!   I guess next we'll be hearing about Rice cake sandwiches, or Saltine sandwiches, or even taco sandwiches. you know, for the extra crunch  :)

Either way, I do applaud Parker for his creativity.  This guy sure has style.

Dolla Dolla Bills Ya

Alright so I stumbled across this awesome website!  The Centsible Life. This lady is awesome!  I was just reading her last post about financial tips from her mother and laughed out loud at the following:

7. Avoid at all costs buying convenience foods. They are always more expensive that cooking from scratch. Yes. Even if you buy them with coupons making them free. They are more expensive as they will cost you in medical expenses because you are eating so badly when you eat convenience foods.

10. Take a senior with you on senior discount day to get the senior discount. She actually yelled at me once for buying something at Ross Dress for Less on a non-senior discount day even though I bought the item off the clearance rack at Ross Dress for Less. “You could have gotten more off with my discount,” she scolded.

I haven't had the chance to go through the whole thing yet, but sheesh it looks to be jam packed with intelligence.  I feel smarter already. I really think that the Internet is a wonderful thing.  It's full of self help stuff that is bound to help me survive in this world.  Thank heavens.

I've always thought that I should have grown up in the 80's since I love their music, bright colors, their style and 80's dancing at Studio 600.... but after seeing Footloose (the original) and realizing that the raw 80's style is not for me, and now with the pure awesomeness of technology these days, I'm happy with where I'm at.

Anyways, this post had a point... I think...   Oh yeah! Check out The Centsible Life and fill your brain with financial wisdom. :)

Face Lift

So I got bored with the last blog look I had and I wanted something cleaner.   This morning I started with something clean, and then got a little carried away with all the options blogger gives you, and ended up with this.   I can't help but put some color in there!  So far I like it, but we'll see how long it lasts. :)

Also, I saw this awesome quote the other day and I'm going to post it so I'll always remember it.

"I may not walk the straight and narrow,
but I try to cross it just as often as I can."
- J. Golden Kimball

So..... happy Friday!

Catch Up

Well I think I'm sick of looking at the screen shot of that video I posted last week when I get on my blog to check what's up in my fellow blogger's lives.   So, I'm posting again.

Catch Up:
  • Labor Day weekend was AWESOME!  Todd invited me to join his whole family up the canyon at their property for their annual labor day celebration.   This is my second year going, and yet again it was a blast! Todd certainly has an amazing family.
  • A family fantasy football draft took place on Monday which marked a new tradition.  Everyone was expected to arrive in business casual attire - and did they ever!  Suit jackets, slacks, clipboards, brief cases, shirts tucked in, laptops, the whole nine yards.  haha it was a lot of fun to watch.
  • I have decided to start cooking once a week while at home.  Trying to help my mom out, and also build my cooking skills at the same time! This week I made Ranch Chicken.  My new favorite recipe.  It's soooo good! Want it?  here you go!
4 chicken breasts or 8 chicken halves
3/4 cup cornflakes (crushed)
3/4 cup Parmesan cheese
1 packet or 3 Tbsp Ranch Dressing Mix
Melted Butter

Combine cornflakes, Parmesan cheese and ranch mix.
Dip chicken in melted butter then roll in cornflake mix. Cover generously.
Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes in a 9x13 pan.
  • I read a book last night that made me seriously consider sleeping with my parents for the night.  Instead, I pulled on my big girl pants and slept on the couch upstairs with all the lights on and GSN's Lingo in the background. No way I was going downstairs to sleep!  Thank you Mary Higgins Clark.
  • Parker is sick.  Poor guy is begging to go back to school because he's so bored.  Hopefully he gets better soon, and hopefully this scratchy throat of mine is not an indication I've been accidentally drinking from his drink...
  • Last night I had a delightful talk with Anisa which was quite a nice break from my white knuckles gripping my book. I send my good vibes her way as she's getting ready to take a test! Go Anisa Go!
  • And last but not least, I want it to be the weekend already.  That is all. :)
